Ok, here goes:
1. Durango Dog Park:
Directions to the Durango Dog Park- 21850 Hwy. 160 W. Durango , CO 81301
From Downtown Durango, head west on Hwy160 towards Mancos. 0.1 Miles after from the light of Hwy160, and after you have crossed the Animas River, there is a small dirt parking lot on the left. You can park there and walk to the entrance. There is no overnight parking here, and no camping.
Pros:
- Awesome spot to take the kids and the dog at the same time.
- Easy access to a good sledding hill from parking lot to sledding time
- Right in downtown, Durango.
- Great for kids
Cons:
- This is an off-leash dog park. So there will be other dogs that may come to hang out, or want to run with you down the hill.
- *Possibility of sledding on poop, even though people are supposed to pick it up, its still a possibility!!
- Parking lot is small, and often is full during mid-day.
Buckley Park
Pros:
- Amazing location downtown
- Easy Parking- great for having your car close by with snacks, etc.
- Huge hill for all ages
- You can create your own trail down after a fresh snow with a sweet jump if ya like!
Cons:
- You can get going quite fast and have to bail out at the very bottom (but this is not that typical unless your an expert sledder!)
- Can get super busy on a snowday with local kids

For buying a sled in town, here are two places that will have what you need:
1. Ace Hardware: This hardware store has quite a lot of items in it, and sledding equipment is defiantly one of them. You can get saucers, regular sleds and even gloves if you need it. It is located right in the town plaza near South City Market.
2. Big 5 Sporting Goods: This is a great spot to find a good sled for a nice deal. They also have snow tubes too and saucers, along with the typical sled.
